Portrait Collage

Description: Students will learn to make a collage portrait using one of the patterns provided by the instructor. First Lola gives students tips on how to experiment with color, design, and variety of non-traditional fabrics in creating the portrait collage wall-hanging.  Lola explains a variety of approaches to achieve a realistic representation of the individual being made.  Students are guided through fabric selection, value, and how to capture unique features of the individual.  In addition, the proper use of different fusible webs, and the applique pressing sheet is discussed.  Students are also given all the information to enlarge and manipulate their own photos to make a pattern using photo manipulation software.  No sewing machine required.
